Being a Light in the Dark

Right now, as I sit here typing away, the sun is shining outside. It is supposed to be very hot outside today and well, for the next couple of days. The weather can change so quickly. It could be sunny one minute and the next minute the rain might start pouring down.

We have something in common with the weather. How quickly the weather can change and how quickly circumstances can change in our lives.

It can very easy to coast through life when it’s sunny. Once the storm hits, it can feel like we are in a losing battle. Or we may know someone that is in the midst of a storm.

Many times God allows us to go through storms so that we will grow stronger once the rain has stopped. He may use a storm in our lives to help encourage someone who may go through that same storm days or years after we go through it.

When the hard times hit, we usually don’t feel like shining a light for others to see.

Do you know of anyone that may be struggling with something heart wrenching? God may be calling you to be a light to them during this dark time in their lives.

Pray and ask God to guide you in how He may be calling you to be a light.

It may be He is calling you to simply pray for that person. He may have you go many steps further and have you reach out to that person.

Matthew 5:16

“Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.”

Each person and circumstance is unique. Even if we faced the same trial as someone else, their situation will be slightly different than ours.

We may dismiss God’s leading. We may think that there’s no way He could use us or that our storm wasn’t as intense as someone else’s.

We may never know how a smile and “I’m praying for you” could encourage someone. Prayer does work, if we pray.
