John 15:13
“Greater love hath no man than this, that a man lay down his life for his friends.”
Most people look at Memorial Day as a day off of work. A day to grill hamburgers and hotdogs and party with friends and family. Maybe someone will wear red, white, and blue and that’s as patriotic as they will get.
There’s nothing wrong with grilling hamburgers or wearing red, white, and blue. Although, we have Memorial Day off for a reason. We have Memorial Day off to remember the lives that have been lost fighting for our country.
It’s amazing to think that thousands have sacrificed their lives for strangers. I don’t know anyone personally that has lost their life for our country and yet many of those men and women sacrificed their lives for us.
Thinking of their sacrifice reminds me of another great sacrifice. God sending His Son, Jesus, to die on the cross for our sins. Dying for all of our sins. Dying for every generation. He made the ultimate sacrifice, so that we may be have eternal life.
Service men and women sacrificed their lives so that we may have the freedoms we have today in the great USA.
Take a moment this Monday to remember the sacrifices that have been made.
Happy Memorial Day!
