“Don’t worry about that. God will take care of that.”
My brother said this to me a couple years ago, as I voiced how worried I was about my car as we headed to the beach. The check engine light had just come on.
(Don’t worry I was able to enjoy the beach with no worries! And that car situation has been resolved.)
I was reminded of the quote again a few days ago. As I was driving, I saw a pothole that was filled with water, so I couldn’t tell how deep it was. As I tried to avoid it, I ended up hitting the pothole head on. As soon as I hit the pothole, I heard a grinding noise. At first I wasn’t that worried, but then another day or two later the worry grew.
After work yesterday, I took my car to an auto care place to see what damage was done.
After waiting and worrying, the mechanic told me that a small piece had become detached and was touching the ground, hence the noise. They attached the piece to its proper place and all was good.
So, I had wasted my time worrying about possible major damage, when it was an easy fix.
I also should mention that I Googled to see what the damage might be and possible quotes to get it fixed. The prices were outrageous. I shouldn’t have looked it up to begin with, since that was what initially set my worry into motion.
Lesson learned: don’t trust everything on the Internet.
I Peter 5:7
“Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.”
Proverbs 3:5
“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.”
I was worried because I didn’t fully trust in God. I didn’t give Him my burdens. I was trying to figure out how I could fix the situation.
Which is never the right thing to do.
I let the worry creep in and steal my joy.
I am determined to not let worry run my life. I’ve had enough time wasted worrying, when I should be trusting.
“Worry doesn’t change things; prayer does.”
“Worry does not empty tomorrow of sorrow, it empties today of strength.” ~ Corrie Ten Boom
Let’s not waste anymore time worrying. Let’s give our burdens to God and fully trust Him.
