Hello! Hope you all are having a great Monday!
This past Saturday, I was helping friends put on a surprise birthday party.
I don’t remember the last time I’ve been to a surprise birthday party.
It was a lot of fun!
A few hours before the quests arrived, we got started getting everything ready. Friends were putting sandwiches together. I was decorating the room in the color scheme we had chosen.
No party is complete without last minute runs to Dollar Tree and Party City.
The time came when we shut out all the lights and waited impatiently for the guest of honor to arrive.
She finally came into the room. Her daughter turning on the lights behind her. We yelled “Surprise!”, as we also set off party poppers.
She was so surprised!
It was an amazing feeling to help celebrate her birthday and see how genuinely thankful she was that we did this for her.
We snacked and played games until late in the evening. At moments, we were laughing so hard we had tears in our eyes.
Those happy moments I will never forget.
The quote “Collect moments, not things” can really hit a cord deep within us.
It is so easy to get caught up in the moment and be jealous of what someone else has or maybe the moments aren’t happy.
Stopping to reflect on how good we have it may come hard at times, but boy, do we need those moments of quite reflection.
This is just a simple thought for today, but I encourage you and myself to stop, look around and collect moments and not things.
