Letting God Take the Lead

Prov. 3:5-6

“Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.”

Hello, September!

This year is truly flying by, and I don’t know what to make of it.

School has started back up. In New England, we have been enjoying the crisp, cool air in the mornings with some leaves already changing colors. It feels like such a gift from God, since I won’t be in New England when peak Fall season arrives.

This summer started to go by at what felt like a snail’s pace, and now it’s practically over.

A whirlwind is brewing for me…

One week from today, I jet off across the world for a trip with family and friends. A few days after we return from that trip, I jet off yet again to volunteer for 6 months.

As I was reflecting on God’s goodness, I thought of this past January. In January, we had what I could only describe as one of the most beautiful snow days I’ve ever witnessed. Recently, with some leaves already starting to change colors, like I said it feels like an amazing gift from God. Since I won’t be in New England for fall or winter, I will take any New England-esque beauty God has for me before I leave.

While I’m excited for this upcoming opportunity, there also is a sense of the unknown. I have no idea what to expect.

The past couple of weeks, I have been pondering the question, “how can I prepare for this?”

Besides packing up what I can stuff into my suitcase and a backpack, how can I prepare for something completely new to me?

By letting God take the lead.

There can be fear in the unknown.

There can be joy in the unknown.

We may have no idea how to feel or act during the unknown.

But, that’s okay.

God’s got our back.

He’s never far from our side.

How can we let Him take the lead in our lives?

Truly trusting in Him. I’ll be the first to attest to saying that I trust in God and then not really trusting Him at times. Have you?

Spending time with Him. Meditating on His Word. Being with Him surrounded by His beautiful creation. Talking with Him.

He wants nothing more than for us to spend time with Him.

Hard times will come. Amazing times will come.

It can be easy to stress about the upcoming election, a test result, bad news, etc.

It may feel easier to take the lead ourselves sometimes.

When we rely on our own strength, we won’t get very far.

We have to be willing to let Him truly take the lead. No matter what.

Today, whatever we may be going through, whatever we may be facing, are we letting God take the lead?

The unknown is scary. We don’t know what we’re getting into, but God does. He’s with us every step of the way.

No matter what may be up ahead, let’s let God take the lead.

Prov. 29:25

“The fear of man bringeth a snare: but whoso putteth his trust in the Lord shall be safe.”

Jer. 29:11

“For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected end.”

John 14:1

“Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.”

Ps. 46:1-5

“God is our refuge and strength, a very present help in trouble. Therefore will not we fear, though the earth be removed, and though the mountains be carried into the midst of the sea; Though the waters thereof roar and be troubled, though the mountains shake with the swelling thereof. Selah. There is a river, the streams whereof shall make glad the city of God, the holy place of the tabernacles of the most High. God is in the midst of her; she shall not be moved: God shall help her, and that right early.”
