I haven’t written in a while. I’m not really sure why.
Maybe life got away from me, maybe I was focused on other things.
I wasn’t giving my soul time to bleed onto paper.
Life has been filled with fun things and frustrating things.
I haven’t been inspired to write. Everything can change in a moment.
This past weekend, I was dog sitting for a friend. On Saturday night, as the sun was setting, I was looking out the window, when a firefly seemed to lazily dance in the air. My eyes were stayed on that little firefly. I didn’t want to let it out of my eyesight, since I’ve been yearning to see fireflies.
As I was focused on the one firefly, I noticed another one and another one continue to come and join in the dance. A few minutes later, there was at least a half dozen fireflies dancing in front of me. I was mesmerized.
I stood there for several minutes watching the fireflies. Those several minutes were such a needed time of quiet reflection.
While I love being out in nature and enjoying God’s creation, I haven’t taken the time to really be in it reflecting. It may have something to do with the 90 degree weather we’ve been having lately, but that’s just a guess…
Even though, the heat may continue to worsen this summer, I’m determined to stop and smell the roses, look up at the stars or watch the fireflies.
It can be easy for us to let life get in the way. We succumb to the hustle and bustle.
What if we stop letting life get in the way? What if we actually took the time to soak in a few minutes of nature?
Let’s determine to enjoy the beautiful creation that God has given us.
“The heavens declare the glory of God; and the firmament sheweth his handywork.”
