Word of the Year 2018 – Intentional

I step outside and immediately feel bitten. Bitten by the harsh cold that seeps into my bones.  I struggle to stay warm under my coat.

This is January.

Here we are three days into the new year.

Many people have started cracking away at their resolutions.

Throughout the last couple of weeks, a word has kept popping into my brain.

Intentional.

I don’t usually choose a word for the year. I actually never have, but when I kept seeing the word intentional pop up, it made me wonder if I am intentional throughout my day to day activities.

What does it mean to be intentional?

I love how Chrysta Bairre defines what it means to be intentional:

Being purposeful in what we do. Living life in a meaningful and fulfilling way. Being thoughtful about our choices.

Wake up every morning and ask, “how am I going to make this day great?”

(Thoughts found here)

I want to be more intentional.

Growing closer to God.

Enjoying time with family and friends instead of mindlessly scrolling through social media.

Being content.

Embracing the moment.

Helping when asked or not.

Serving and showing love to others.

Before I speak, I want to taste my own words and be intentional when speaking.

I choose to begin today.

Will you join me?

Do you have a word for 2018?

Or a certain goal you would like to be accomplished this year?

I would love to hear about it!
