Sitting on the back deck, I can’t help but soak up God’s beautiful creation. The sun shines gloriously. Trees swaying on the gentle breeze. Birds chirping and flying to and fro.
We have had so much beautiful weather lately. It almost seems like a crime to sit inside when nature beckons.
Because of the time of year, I have seen many robins. Too many to count. The other day, as I was walking in the driveway, a robin stopped in its tracks giving me major side eye, while a fat, juicy worm hung from its beak.
Although I have yet to see my fair share of sparrows, watching the robins catch worms, fight with each other, build their nests, etc., made me think of sparrows and the encouraging reminder associated with them.
Matthew 10: 29-31
“ Are not two sparrows sold for a farthing? and one of them shall not fall on the ground without your Father. But the very hairs of your head are all numbered. Fear ye not therefore, ye are of more value than many sparrows.”
What an encouraging thought!
God knows exactly where we are and what we are going through. We are never out of His grasp.
We are never too far gone to a point where His love stops for us. Never.
It can be hard to fathom His unconditional love.
No matter how often we complain. He loves us.
No matter how often we boast. He loves us.
No matter how often we do anything that doesn’t please Him. He still loves us.
That being said, we shouldn’t take His unconditional love as an excuse to sin.
Yes, He will love us no matter what, but if we truly have a heart for Him, we will strive to do our best in pleasing Him.
When I think of complaining I think of the Israelites…
They complained well.
They complained about the food God gave them. Quail and manna.
They most likely complained about many things aside from what is listed in the Bible, like the weather, their weariness, maybe the person in front of them walked too slow, etc.
Exodus 13:19-22
“And Moses took the bones of Joseph with him: for he had straitly sworn the children of Israel, saying, God will surely visit you; and ye shall carry up my bones away hence with you. And they took their journey from Succoth, and encamped in Etham, in the edge of the wilderness. And the Lord went before them by day in a pillar of a cloud, to lead them the way; and by night in a pillar of fire, to give them light; to go by day and night: He took not away the pillar of the cloud by day, nor the pillar of fire by night, from before the people.”
Despite the Israelites complaining, He was with them.
Yes, He did get angry with them, but He still loved them. His loving never stopped.
What a beautiful reminder for us!
No matter how much we may be complaining about things in this world, or about what we have or don’t have, God loves us. He always will.
He wants us to seek Him first over everything else.
Remember, His eye is on the sparrow, but His eye is also on us.
He is always with us.
Never forget that.

Emily! Good to see you writing again!
