Summer is officially here. Here in TN, summer has felt like it’s been around for a while already.

This is the season when I miss the swimming pool from my childhood days.

Besides swimming, there are a few other sweet reminders that summer has begun. Lightning bugs, trips to the beach, tropical breezes, juicy peaches. 

This past weekend, I went to the local apple/ peach orchard, which just opened for their peach season of 2021. There’s nothing like biting into the juiciest peach and supporting local businesses. As I was indulging in a peach, I couldn’t help but think of the quote: “You can be the ripest, juiciest peach in the world, and there’s still going to be someone who hates peaches”.

While there is truth in that statement, I believe that we shouldn’t let anyone who is hating on our peachiness to dull our smiles.

There are some people who seem stuck in a bad attitude, but we don’t have to be one of them. We don’t have to join their pity party. 

We can try to be extra friendly around them to try and crack their rough exterior, but if that doesn’t work, we can just continue on our merry way, hoping and praying that someone else may have a better chance at lightening their mood.
We don’t need to dwell on why others may not like us. What they think of us shouldn’t matter in the grand scheme of things. 

1 Samuel 16:7

“But the Lord said unto Samuel, Look not on his countenance, or on the height of his stature; because I have refused him: for the Lord seeth not as man seeth; for man looketh on the outward appearance, but the Lord looketh on the heart.”

No one’s opinion should matter to us, except God’s. Don’t let anyone dull your shine. God wants us to shine for Him.

So, no matter if someone hates on us or not, let’s not worry about what others think, because that doesn’t really matter. 

Focus on shining for God. Don’t let anyone dull your shine in the process.
