I Sam 17: 17-18

“And Jesse said unto David his son, Take now for thy brethren an ephah of this parched corn, and these ten loaves, and run to the camp of thy brethren;  And carry these ten cheeses unto the captain of their thousand, and look how thy brethren fare, and take their pledge.”

Who doesn’t love cheese?! Well, maybe you don’t if you are vegan or lactose intolerant…

If for some reason, you were asked to bring a cheese platter to a wedding, do you feel like you would be playing a big part in the wedding celebrations? Probably not, depending on how big the cheese platter is supposed to be.

Usually when we hear messages on I Samuel 17, we don’t hear about the cheese being the main focus.

We tend to focus on when David goes to Saul,  is fitted in Saul’s armor and then goes out to slay Goliath.

Why dwell on the cheese, when it was so small compared to slaying Goliath?

David was willing to deliver cheese and other items to his brothers. He could have refused.  He could have thought that task was too petty for him to do.

Mailing a Christmas card to the town scrooge may seem like a waist with the card probably being thrown away. What if God prodded your heart to send the card and the card could be what starts to work in the scrooge’s heart? It may seem like nothing much, but you never know how God can use the little things.

I believe there are no “little things” in God’s eyes.  He wants us to be willing and faithful in every task He has for us, no matter the size we think it is.

Are we willing to be faithful in the little things and the big things?

Are we willing to deliver some “cheese” today?
