Who’s in First Place?

Has your mind ever been completely consumed? Consumed to the point where you can hardly think about anything else?

This was me last week. My mind was completely consumed with something to the point where it was hard to think about other things for a sustained period of time.

I don’t know if this ever happens to you, but my mind went into overdrive. I tend to overthink things.

Time was being wasted, when I could have been doing something more productive.

We each may have our own things that we tend to put first in our lives.

Whether it’s sports, food, a person, being the most fit, the most stylish, the most organized, etc., are we putting it before anything and everything else?

Do we wake up and check if our team won before thanking God for another day?

Matt. 6:33

“But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Matt. 22:37

“Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.”

Exodus 20:3

“Thou shalt have no other gods before me.”

In Exodus 20, the first commandment given is to have no other gods before God.

God wants us to put Him first. He wants us to seek Him first.

He deserves to have first place in our hearts and lives.

What are we chasing and pursuing with every fiber of our being?

Is it of eternal value?

Col. 3:2

“Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.”

Who’s got first place in your life today?

  1. I like to start my day by thanking God before my feet hit the floor. When I am up and about, I also like to open the front door and then the back door and say, “Good Morning Lord. Thank You for this glorious day.” 🙂
