Keep Pressing On

“Well, that’s cute…”

I thought this to myself as I was walking on the treadmill and noticing an older gentleman on a stationary bike in front of me at the gym.

He was riding the bike at a slow but steady pace, moving his arms almost like he was dancing.

After a while, I finally looked down and noticed the gentleman’s walker.

I immediately regretted judging this older gentleman that all of a sudden became an inspiration to me.

I glanced at the digital reader to see how far he had gone, he was so close to a mile that I was secretly cheering him on to make it over a mile, which he did.

This particular gym even has a “no judgement” policy with “judgement free zone” in big, bold, purple letters for everyone to see.

This gentleman didn’t let his handicap status hold him back. He got on the bike and pressed on.

Many of us may not even have a handicap and yet we can use the tiniest reason for an excuse.

It can be so easy to be wrapped up in whatever has us down that we don’t even think about how our actions  may be affecting others.

People are watching what we do.

There may be someone waiting to see how you respond to a trial that may affect how they respond to what they are going through.

Whatever it may be that we are going through,  God doesn’t want us to give up. He wants us to press on.

Phil. 3:14

“I press toward the mark for the prize of the high calling of God in Christ Jesus.”

Heb. 12:1

“Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,”

Will we choose to press on when the going gets tough?
