“Why are you so happy all the time”?
When I worked for one summer at a McDonald’s restaurant, a co-worker asked this question of me.
While working at McDonald’s was definitely no sunshine and roses, I was pretty sure I was the only source of spiritual light in the building. One of the best ways to showcase that light was/is to have a good attitude.
I love to smile and laugh. I’m the one that will always choose a comedy over any other kind of movie.
My hope and joy is anchored in Jesus. I know that when I die I will be going to Heaven. I truly have nothing to fear, although I may still be fearful of certain animals.
Is my hope and joy anchored in Jesus 24/7?
No. I’m human.
I’m not a ray of sunshine 24/7.
Why not?
In those moments when doubt and fear creeps in, my hope and joy isn’t anchored where it needs to be.
If our joy isn’t placed in Christ, where have we misplaced it?
Sports. Relationships. A home. Family. Career.
It’s okay to have joy in these areas, but Christ should be our ultimate source of hope and joy.
Where are we placing our joy today?
Nehemiah 8:10
“…for the joy of the Lord is your strength.”
The Solid Rock
My hope is built on nothing less
Than Jesus Christ, my righteousness;
I dare not trust the sweetest frame,
But wholly lean on Jesus’ name.
On Christ, the solid Rock, I stand;
All other ground is sinking sand,
All other ground is sinking sand.
When darkness veils His lovely face,
I rest on His unchanging grace;
In every high and stormy gale,
My anchor holds within the veil.
His oath, His covenant, His blood,
Support me in the whelming flood;
When all around my soul gives way,
He then is all my hope and stay.
Very good!! Thank you!!
