Saying “No” to Sugar Pt. 2

Welcome back for part 2 of saying “no” to sugar!

If you haven’t read part 1 yet, you can click here to read that post.

Before I decided to try going this week with no sugar and then adding no dairy (except feta) or carbs, I had always heard that when people went no sugar the pounds melted away.

I wasn’t necessarily doing it to just drop pounds, but that would be an added bonus. I wanted to challenge myself to see if I really could go a week without sugar, dairy or carbs.

I can tell I have dropped a few pounds, although I’m not exactly sure how many since I don’t own a scale.

Today is my last full day of it, and yet while I say that I’m not sure today will actually be the last day…why?

Because I’ve actually really enjoyed this week of seeing if I could go without certain foods.

I’m not really craving any certain foods or sweets. Wednesday was the only day where I started to feel like a craving was going to kick in and so that was when I tried the first trial run of the cookie recipe I’m working on.

I did have a few headaches throughout the week, and I had heard that I would most likely have them since my body is reacting to the change in diet. Drinking enough water usually took care of the headaches, though. Also, a few medjool dates (or another variety of date is fine) can help kick the headaches.

As this week comes to a close, I feel really good with energy. I don’t feel sluggish. I’m not going to sign up for a marathon any time soon, but I didn’t know I would come out of the week feeling this good…it’s probably because I was only feeding my body good food. Food that would truly fuel the body.

Now that this no sugar week has almost come to a close, I’m excited to research more recipes that I can indulge in that don’t have any added sugar. I’ve actually been surprised that there are so many recipes already out there…and I can’t wait to try them!

Have you ever tried going no sugar? I highly recommend it!

If you are interested in trying a “no” sugar week like I did, here is the link to the particular 7 day sugar detox that I used:

7 Day Sugar Detox

I truly believe the saying “you are what you eat” is true. If we eat donuts, candy bars and only drink soda, our bodies will be filled with sugar, but if we eat veggies, fruit, good fats, protein and watch our carbs, we will be fueling our body.

So, why not give going no sugar a try?!

I would love to hear if you have tried going no sugar and your experience!

  1. Congratulations on going a week without sugar! I’ve done the keto diet for a while now and it’s amazing how the cravings for sugar go away after just a few days. It feels really great without them.
